Antilag Beta on Itch


Being made in RPG Maker VX Ace (which is pretty old), a longstanding problem with the game has been the fact that it's badly CPU-bound and can't use graphics cards, which leads to a lot of lag on weaker CPUs. This is something I've wanted to address for a while, but none of the existing anti-lag scripts were satisfactory in their existing states. As a result, I've long been meaning to modify one myself, but doing that will require a fair amount of testing before it's safe to put in the main branch of a game.

But, after some users reported significant lag recently, I decided this is something I should try to address sooner than later. So, I ended up just making a test version of the solution I had in mind. It's now available as a beta version (it's been on Steam for a while, but I'm launching the antilag beta here too at popular request). 

I haven't had time to fully test this (and I won't be able to until at least after next release), but in theory it should not break anything (and many fixes have been made based on user feedback during the time it was on Steam). If you have significant lag when playing the game, I'd be happy to hear whether it's better on the beta branch. If so, feel free to use it and report any bugs. 


Known Issues:

A few large things may stay on the edge of the screen even after they should disappear, but this is purely visual and only happens on a few maps. I prioritized fixing the game breaking stuff, since I am still busy with the update.
